focus week-20.05.09

This week i decided to go to to museums, galleries to get as much information as possible for my projects.
I went to Saachi gallery, and found very interesting projects there. The one i liked most was the work 20:50 site specific oil installation by Richard Wilson.
I also went to science museum where i found a lot information about materials. This was helpful especially with my last project.

After i was at Saachi gallery i went to science museum. It was very helpful because i learnt and found more information about materilas. It helped me with my last project.

The original brief of the materials house was to create an object containing the greatest variety of materials possible. Approach was to get away from the idea of small pieces of each material stuck on a prefabricated house. Instead the concept was to create the worlds largest composite sandwich of materials.

focus week-04.03.09

This week i flew back to my country, which is Azerbaijan, Baku. I flew there because we had a family event. While i was there i went to part called Sumgait where they built high quality Sumgait Technology Park(STP). It was interesting to see the work process in a huge area, and how they will use land. One of the main thing that drew my attention was a fence. First they built a brick fence which costed a lot of money. It was not a good idea because the area is huge. After they decided to remove brick fence and to build the one from light materials and more aesthetically pleasing. We can see them on pictures below.

It was quite useful to spend time there and see how they use the landscape.

This is the initial idea for a fence, which was changed later on.
this is how it looks after they removed brick wall.

One of the departments roof has got a flag of Azerbaijan, which is eye catching from a plane.

This is one of the entrances to techology park.It has got 3 different entrances, for people , small cars and lories

Focus week-15.03.09.

  • This week i decided to go to Heathrow airport, to see Airplot land. This is a peace of land where we need to design something that will help from expansion of the Airoprt runways.
Before getting there i thought it is going to be a big area, but after i saw it i actually changed my design ideas. It is a small peace of land with small trees, surrounded by small houses where people live. So i decided to create something that can be usable by people living there as well.
I decided to make area greener because at the moment it has small trees and few old ones.

As we can see from the picture, the land has got few trees and is not usable at the moment

The area itself is small and surrounded by samll houses. This means that by building new runway they will create difficulty for people in that area.
Those are the small trees with the names labeled next to each tree. the amount of trees and their sizes are much less than i expected

focus week-20.11.09.

This week i decided to go to the area of Kings cross to know more about the area because it was one of our projects. I needed to choose site for making changes there, to make it more usable. A lot of construction was in that area. I found it interesting to see how one part of it differs from the other.

Also on that week we had a walk around London with a group of students. It was a nice day and we could visit many places.

Camley park

This is the area i choose. I want to make it more usable, because at the moment it is just a walkway.
On that day the weather was realy nice to walk around London. It was nice and clear.
We were in groups and could discuss the different elments of the landscape in that area.

We saw many areas for people to skate. Mainly they were in grafities. Different levels were used.

focus week-14.10.09.

For my first focus week i went to V&A. I found very useful information there. I saw different architecture of diferent periods. It was useful to see how elments, texture were changing from country to country and from time to time.

For example in Italian architecture i saw an example of small house where people used to live long ago. Structure had narrow pasageways, steep stariscases and changes in surface level.

When i was there i also went to room with and exhibition called DIGICODE. It was nice to see how by movement, colors on a screen and other things change. For example by the movement of body or body parts colors change on direction they move.
Those are the pictures from a show of DIGICODE inV&A. It was nice to see how the materials respond to a movement of a different things. They change color , size and shape.
